Setup and Usage Guide

Zoom Bridge OBS, operated by VNConference, connects authorized Zoom media to local OBS sources and optional NDI output.

Before you begin

Use the Windows installer supplied for your deployment, OBS Studio, an administrator-issued license email and Serial Key, and a Zoom account permitted to authorize the app. Install an NDI runtime only if you intend to enable NDI output. Obtain host and participant permissions for your production.

Authorize and connect

  1. Install the provided Windows Zoom Bridge OBS build and its OBS plugin. Open Connect to Zoom and use Activation to verify the email and Serial Key issued by your administrator. A license supports up to two registered devices.
  2. Open Authorize with Zoom in your browser. Sign in to Zoom, review the requested permissions, and authorize only if you agree. Your Zoom account administrator may need to approve the app first.
  3. After authorization, the callback page displays a Zoom Access Key (ZAK). Copy it into Connect → Advanced options → ZAK token (optional). This is a manual paste step; the browser does not connect the desktop app automatically. Treat the ZAK as a secret and close the callback page after use.
  4. Paste the full Zoom join link into Connect, including its required query parameters. For a registered webinar, use the Join link in the confirmation email, not the registration page or event lobby. Check your display name and connect.
  5. Ask the host to admit the bridge and grant the recording/raw-media permission required for the intended output. Authorization does not bypass waiting rooms, passcodes, registration, account restrictions, or host controls.
  6. In OBS, add a Zoom Bridge source, choose the session and participant or screen share, and check the output. Enable NDI output only when needed and only on a network where you are authorized to distribute the media.
  7. Use Disconnect when finished, then exit Connect from its system tray menu. Closing the Connect window minimizes it to the tray; closing OBS alone does not disconnect the bridge.

Denial, expiry, and reconnecting

If you decline Zoom authorization, no ZAK is provided. If the callback fails or the 10-minute authorization session expires, restart authorization from this site. If your ZAK expires or Zoom denies meeting access, obtain a fresh ZAK and check meeting restrictions with the host. A successful authorization does not guarantee access to external-account meetings; Zoom approval and account rules still apply.

Disconnect the old bridge before reconnecting. After rejoining, check host permission and refresh or reselect OBS sources as needed. If the license session expires, verify your license again. Its JWT lifetime defaults to 12 hours. A license lock blocks the next verification; it does not immediately terminate an already issued session.

Remove authorization and request deletion

To remove the Zoom authorization, sign in to Zoom App Marketplace, open Manage → Added Apps, select this app, and choose Remove. In Marketplace layouts that show My Library, find the app there and choose Remove from its actions menu. Confirm removal.

Disconnect the bridge and exit Connect to stop local use. Removing the Zoom app does not delete license records or recordings you made in OBS. Request deletion of service records by emailing vanvu.tran@vnc.vnconference.vn with your license email. Requests are handled manually; do not send keys, tokens, or meeting passcodes.
